Warmer Weather is approaching!
Please make sure your child is continuing to bring a coat or jacket to school even with the warmer weather arriving. In Michigan our weather can change rapidly and students are expected to be prepared for recesses of all weather. Remember our school policy is that a coat is needed and no shorts allowed when it is under 60 degrees outside. 

As the weather starts to warm up, please be sure students are dressed appropriately. Clothing that exposes underwear or too much skin is prohibited. This includes midriff tops.


M-STEP Information- 5th graders take 4 M-STEP tests (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) starting the week of April 18th-May 20th. We will take one assessment a week on each Wednesday. Please try to encourage good sleeping habits and eat a good breakfast before each test to help your child focus their best on their test. Please try to limit absences on these days, because making up these test sessions is difficult. I will allow SUGAR FREE GUM during these tests and will collect any gum donations ahead of time.


Lincoln 5th Grade M-STEP Schedule- 

April 20- ELA 9:45 (2 hours) 

April 27- Math 9:45 (1.5 hours)

May 4th- Science 9:45 (1.5 hours)

May 11th- Social Studies 9:45  (1 hour)

May 18th- Makeups 9:45

May 20th- Cut off day


Our classroom could use some donations of snacks and tissues again. These donations are used for students who forget to bring in a snack to school. Lately, we have gone through many of each. Snacks can include individually wrapped foods like goldfish, fruit snacks, pretzels, cheez-its, crackers, or granola bars. 

Remember to charge those devices each night!

  NWEA Math- 1/12 MLK Jr. Day- 1/17 No School NWEA Reading- 1/18 Sarett Cross Country Skiing- 1/20 9:30-2:00 Half days- 1/27 &1/28 No School- 2/18 & 2/21 What's Happening this week?  Math- Unit 4 Traditional Multiplication  Social Studies- Colonization  Science- Watery Planet Reading- compare and contrast  Writing- Persuasive Writing WEATHER -Please watch the weather every night to prepare for the day. Michigan weather can be very unpredictable, so be prepared. NO MORE SHORTS! Coats, hats, mittens, snow pants, and boots will likely be needed in the next few weeks. Layers underneath are suggested as well in case of weather changes. Please contact me or the front office if you are in need of assistance getting any of these items for your child. May 30th - June 3rd Monday- No School - Memorial Day Tuesday - P.E. Wednesday- LATE START - Art & 5th Grade performance 3:00 & 5:30 Thursday - Music Friday - Media Center & Planetarium Visit 5th Grade Music Performance- This Wednesday students will be performing what they have learned in Music all year for the school at 3:00 and at the High School at 5:30. Students are encouraged to wear Hawaiian or "beachy" clothing. Students may arrive at the High School Auditorium as early as 5:10 pm. Library Books:  Please help your child remember to return or renew his/her library books this Friday.  The media center is asking students to return late books and monitor how many books they have checked out to ensure all books are returned by the end of the year. Please also keep an eye out for books that might be circulating from our classroom library- they should all be marked Griffith.
