Holiday Party- Our Holiday Party will be Friday, December 17th after lunch. We will be watching the Movie Polar Express and comparing it to the book which we will read as a class. Parents can help by sending in snacks and treats to enjoy during the movie. Students can also bring in blankets and pillows to use during the movie. If you have any questions about our party please email me at kgriffith@stjoebears.com. 


Ice Skating- Remember to thank a PTO parent and the City of St. Joseph for the skating if you run into any of them!

WEATHER-Please watch the weather every night to prepare for the day. Michigan weather can be very unpredictable, so be prepared. NO MORE SHORTS! Coats, hats, mittens, snow pants, and boots will likely be needed in the next few weeks. Layers underneath are suggested as well in case of weather changes. Please contact me or the front office if you are in need of assistance getting any of these items for your child. We want all kids to have an enjoyable time at recess this winter.

Our class could use some more water/cups, peanut-less snacks for our daily snack time and colorful gems.

Grinch Day- This Wednesday, December 15th, 5th Graders will be participating in Grinch Day. They will read the book and watch the original Grinch movie (1966 version) and do various Math, ELA, and computer tasks based on the book and movie. Because the film is only 26 minutes long we will not have time for special food and drinks.

We would like to remind everyone that breakfast and lunch are FREE again this year to every St Joseph Public School student. Please try to remember to pre-order your student’s lunches when they are going to participate in lunch.  This helps speed up the morning lunch count process.  You will be allowed to order the Friday before the next week using www.sendmoneytoschool.com.

End of Week 1!

  What an amazing first week we had! It was so nice to be able to connect with each of your kids during the past four days.   Everyone did their very best to stay focused and on task even with the excitement of a new school year. I can tell this is going to be a fantastic year! NWEA- We will begin our first NWEA testing session Tuesday morning with Math and again Thursday morning for Reading. We will reassess students in the Winter and Spring to watch their growth throughout the year.   Monday, January 17th -Martin Luther King Jr. Day - No School Tuesday, January 18th - P.E., Finish NWEA Testing and Remember the Titans Wednesday, January 19th - LATE START Thursday, January 20th - Sarett 9-2:30pm Friday, January 21st - Media Center & 4th Grade Program Important Dates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, NO SCHOOL - January 17th  Late Start - January 19th Skiing at Sarrett - January 20th ½ Days - January 27th & 28th   Skiing at Sarett We will be traveling by bus to Sarett Nature Center on Thursday Morning this week. Please make sure your child has a winter coat, snow pants, waterproof gloves, and a hat. If any parent wants to join us, you are more than welcome. Paperwork was sent home last week if you are interested. You will need to drive yourself, and meet us there at 9:30am.
